Congratulations to our Te Rau Matatini board member Donovan Clarke who today becomes the Chief Executive Officer at Manaia Primary Health Organisation (PHO) based in Whangarei.
Donovan's new role started with a pōwhiri this morning at Pehiaweri Marae, Whangarei. Donovan’s whakapapa is Ngāti Te Tarawa of Ngāti Hine and Waikato, Ngāti Te Ata. While having a strong Ngāti Hine whakapapa, Donovan was born and raised in the deep south of ‘Murihiku’ after the whānau moved there early on.
Donovan has a background in law and health, and an MBA from the University of Otago.
His new position at Manaia PHO will be Improve health outcomes and address health inequalities for Māori and vulnerable populations, particularly children, youth and older persons. He will also be the champion for integrated care across the primary and secondary sector to meet key national health targets; smoking, cvd/diabetes and immunization.
