Kerri Butler is the Tamaki Makaurau regional representative in Te Huarahi o te Kete Pounamu. This role enables her to advocate and mediate at all levels of the mental health sector for improved health outcomes for Māori. She has a Bachelor of Business with majors in Accounting and Management. Specific papers within this degree on change management and project management, coupled with her training in Prince 2 project management methodology, have supported her in in a variety of project lead roles including Counties Manukau District Health Board MDHB Funding & Planning. In 2014 Kerri established Take Notice Limited as a consumer led organisation to ‘empower the voices of people with lived experience’.
Kerri also holds an Adult Learning Certificate (Level 4) and has extensive experience in training adults within the mental health sector, including those with lived experience. Shas developed and delivered several training modules and packages for diverse audiences including family/whānau, consumer, clinician, NGOs and communities. Her portfolio also includes international experience developing and delivering a community mental health train the instructor program in Fiji. A key component too many of Kerri’s training packages has been how to use her lived experience of mental distress to promote positive messages and influence change. This is being further enriched through undertaking a post graduate diploma in Public Health with several papers on Health Promotion strategies and application.
