Collective Impact and Cultural Connectedness Te Rau Matatini is contracted by Health Workforce New Zealand, within the Ministry of Health, as the National Centre for the Māori Mental Health and Addiction Workforce.
Waka Hourua supports Māori whānau, hapū, iwi, Pasifika families and communities to develop and enhance their own capacity and capability to prevent suicide and to respond safely and effectively when and if suicide occurs.

Te Rau Matatini has been designing and developing Māori Health Workforce training programmes for the past ten years. These programmes focus on improving the cultural competency of the health workforce, and responding to the needs of Māori and their communities.
Te Rau Matatini administers a number of Ministry of Health funded scholarships programmes to build the capacity, capability and acknowledges Māori Health leadership within the Mental Health and Addiction sector.
