Whānau Centred Practice In Mental Health And Addiction Services

Te Rau Matatini has completed consultation with whānau who take care of loved ones with mental health and addiction challenges. For whānau, being able to share their stories with others who have similar experiences has been invaluable.  Te Rau Matatini is working with these whānau to develop best practice guidelines for mental health and addiction services who work with Māori.  During whānau consultation hui, which Te Rau Matatini ran during 2017, whānau Māori talked about the importance that their loved ones feel that kaimahi who work with them care about them and that whānau are included in the journey when a person has mental health and addiction challenges.  These best practice guidelines will be piloted in the second half of 2018.
