Three Health Workforce New Zealand Scholarships, funded by the Ministry of Health and administered by Te Rau Matatini are open. These scholarships are open to Māori and non-Māori studying and working in health. The Henry Rongomau Bennett Foundation Scholarship, the Hoe Tahi Addiction (AoD) scholarship, and the Hoe Rua Addiction Work-based Placement scholarship have been open since the 9th of January 2018 and will close on the 9th of February 2018. These scholarships aim to build capacity and capability of the health sector with a specific focus on Māori, and the mental health and addiction sector.
For people in their first year of study in 2018, make sure to check whether you are eligible for free fees. The government's new education policy offers free education or training to all first time tertiary students and students in industry-based training, up to a value of $12,000, with no restrictions on age.
