Indigenous Best Practice Suicide Prevention And Clearing House

In 2017 Professor Pat Dudgeon from the Indigenous Studies department at the University Western Australia invited Dr Kahu McClintock to be the Aotearoa advisor on the Centre of Best Practice in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide Prevention (CBPATSISP) Expert group.  The group aims to reduce the causes, prevalence, and impact of suicide on Indigenous individuals, families, and communities.

A focus on at-risk groups, by identifying, translating, and promoting the adoption or adaption of best practice in Indigenous-specific suicide prevention activity.  A three-hour teleconference is held monthly facilitated by Professor Dudgeon, to discuss the development of Best Practice in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide Prevention and the development of their Clearing House.  In September 2018, CBPATSISP launched their Clearing House  https://www.cbpatsisp.com.au/about-us/expert-advisory-panel/

The experience that Dr McClintock is gaining from being an Advisor on the Centre of Best Practice in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide  Prevention (CBPATSISP) Expert group will provide exceptional guidance for the development of the Waka Hourua Clearing House currently being developed by Te Rau Matatini.
